IntelligentMD Receives SBIR Grant to Research a “Multiplex Prenatal Screen for Perinatal Pathogens”

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS — July 2004. IntelligentMD was awarded approximately $100,000 USD to research how PriMD™, IntelligentMD’s common standard platform for bioinformatics, can aid in developing a multiplex screen for rapid detection and quantification of potential perinatal pathogens utilizing TaqMan and Luminex technologies. Dr. Heather Kiefer, IntelligentMD’s lead scientist overseeing the project, stated, “We are pleased that SBIR has awarded us the opportunity to demonstrate the ability of a molecular test to detect and quantify the most common perinatal pathogens.”

The Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) works to ensure that the nation’s small, high-tech, innovative businesses act as a significant part of the federal government’s research and development projects. In reviewing grant applications the SBIR seeks unique research projects that are of high scientific caliber that are relevant to public health needs.

IntelligentMD continues to advance forward in developing its innovative approach to the design and manufacturing of molecular diagnostic tests.
