May 2, 2011 - IntelligentMDx is pleased to announce that Dr. Richard Del Mastro has joined as Vice President of Research and Development.
Dr. Del Mastro brings his 15 years of biotech experience and R&D background in molecular and cell biology to IMDx. Dr. Del Mastro began his career identifying genes in Mendelian diseases, moving on to identify those in complex diseases such as Osteoporosis and Asthma. He has headed the Functional and Cell Biology Department at Genome Therapeutics, leading a team that developed cell-based model systems to understand the mechanistic role of disease-associated SNPs and genes. Prior to joining IMDx, Dr. Del Mastro was Director of Research and Product Development at Life Technologies, in the Gibco cell culture business.
Dr. Del Mastro obtained his undergraduate degree from Portsmouth University, UK in Biophysics, his Ph.D. from Birmingham University, UK in Molecular Genetics, and performed postdoctoral studies at UCONN Health Center, Farmington, CT, and UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. Throughout his career, Dr. Del Mastro has received over $4M in NIH grants, published in 14 peer reviewed journals and 2 book chapters, and is a co-inventor on 7 issued patents.
