Alice Jacobs, M.D.

Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Alice Jacobs, M.D. is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of IntelligentMDx, a molecular diagnostics company based in Cambridge, MA that develops and manufactures tests for rapid, precise, clinically impactful detection of infectious diseases. Dr. Jacobs founded IntelligentMDx after losing a patient during her medical training to a healthcare-associated infection and made it her mission to integrate discoveries made in life sciences to improve efficiency in healthcare delivery, increase the confidence of clinicians in treatment, and reduce the cost of care worldwide. Since founding the company, Dr. Jacobs has assembled a team of visionary leaders dedicated to her vision of integrating next-generation solutions into current health care practices. In 2004, Scientific American named Dr. Jacobs as one of the top 50 innovators in science and technology. Dr. Jacobs was selected by the World Economic Forum as a member of the Forum of Young Global Leaders in 2006. She serves as a member of the Whitehead Board of Associates. She holds a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences as well as a B.A. in Art History from Stanford University. Dr. Jacobs earned her M.D. from Harvard Medical School.

David L. Dolinger, Ph.D.

Vice President, Research & Development

Dr. Dolinger has over 18 years of industry experience. David has wide range of experience in drug discovery, molecular diagnostic assay research, research and development of diagnostics instrumentation, and pharamcogenomics. David has extensive experience in all aspects of the IVD industry having founded his own company in the area of pharmacogenomics. Prior to joining IntelligentMDx, David was the Director of Assay Development and Manufacturing for IQuum, Inc., a Senior Manager of Molecular Product Support for Bayer Diagnostics and Scientific Director for Visible Genetics, Inc where he was an integral part of the team that obtained FDA clearance for the first sequence based diagnostic.

David’s love of diagnostics began in 1978 as a Peace Corps volunteer in rural south Korea working in tuberculosis and Hansen’s disease control where in working on developing simple diagnostics for the determination of treatment compliance. David received his B.S. degree in Chemistry and Biology from West Chester State University, his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Temple University Medical School and post-doctoral training in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University.

Elizabeth Holland

Senior Director, Human Resources & Business Operations

Elizabeth Holland joined IntelligentMDx as Director of Human Resources in January 2008. Ms. Holland has over 20 years of experience in the role of Human Resource Business Partner. Ms. Holland has been the human resource lead in several mergers and acquisitions and has worked in the biotechnology industry since 1996 with drug discovery companies, genomic services and nucleic acid purification products, and companies developing automation and bioinformatics platforms. Ms. Holland previously held positions in high technology, manufacturing and retail industries. Ms. Holland chaired the Human Resources Committee of the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council for ten years, and is still an active member. Ms. Holland is one of the founders of HRBiotech Connect, a group formed in 2006 to provide a forum for senior level human resource business partners to debate and discuss current issues, to provide support and guidance to members, and to share information on critical HR needs in this growing industry. Ms. Holland graduated from Northeastern University in 2001 and received her Senior Professional Human Resources Certification (SPHR) in 2004.

Phillip T. Moen Jr. Ph.D.

Director, Product Development

Dr Phillip Moen joined IntelligentMDx in June, 2009 and has a broad background in molecular and cellular diagnostic assay development, having held senior research and product development positions for several major Biotechnology companies including E.I DuPont de Nemours, Inc., NEN Life Sciences, Inc. (now PerkinElmer), and SeraCare Life Sciences, Inc. He has strong project management and product development skills in in-vitro diagnostics, having developed both FDA-cleared and CE-marked products under ISO 13485 guidelines.

Sarah S. Toomey, J.D.

Corporate IP Counsel and Licensing

Sarah Toomey joined IntelligentMDx in February 2009 as Corporate and Intellectual Property Counsel. Prior to joining IntelligentMDx, Ms. Toomey was an Associate at two intellectual property law firms in northern Virginia. Ms. Toomey has experience in prosecution, interference practice and litigation motions practice. Prior to law school, Ms. Toomey worked at Merck & Co., Inc. as a Microbiologist in a biocatalysis laboratory, where she researched biotransformations and fermentations and produced clinical material for product campaigns. While at Merck, Ms. Toomey authored and co-authored several technical articles on biotransformations. Before Merck, Ms. Toomey researched plant estrogens and their effects on mammalian cells under Dr. Jack Gorski at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Ms. Toomey received her B.S. in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her J.D., with a concentration in intellectual property, from Suffolk University Law School. Ms. Toomey is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
