IMDx Announces Issuance of a Key U.S. Personalized Medicine Patent Directed to Methods for Determining Suitability of Therapeutic Agents

Cambridge, MA, November 29, 2009 - Intelligent Medical Devices, Inc. (IMDx) announced the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 7,622,250 entitled “Clinically Intelligent Diagnostic Devices and Methods”. A multiplexed method for determining the effectiveness and suitability of therapeutic agents to treat one or more symptoms of medical condition(s) in an individual is described.

The patented methods enable detection of the presence of a genetic sequence indicative of a target(s) for causes of medical symptoms that require treatment. The methods can also be used to detect the presence or absence of genetic markers that define an individual’s tolerance, resistance, intolerance, or susceptibility to a therapeutic agent. These new methods and associated devices allow for the inclusion of additional tests to existing assays. This flexibility is crucial for creating and maintaining state of the art tests.
