IntelligentMD Awarded SBIR Grant for the Simultaneous Detection of Common Respiratory Viruses

CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS — August 1, 2003. IntelligentMD has been awarded a grant of approximately $100,000 USD by the Small Business Innovative Research Program (SBIR) to demonstrate the feasibility of a molecular diagnostic test for the simultaneous (multiplex) detection of various common respiratory viruses. IntelligentMD was granted the award due to its proprietary application for multiplexing respiratory viruses using TaqMan and Luminex technologies. IntelligentMD’s unique assay development process empowers rapid multiplex test development of the highest sensitivity and specificity.

The Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR) works to ensure that the nation’s small, high-tech, innovative businesses act as a significant part of the federal government’s research and development projects. In reviewing grant applications the SBIR seeks unique research projects that are of high scientific caliber that are relevant to public health needs.

IntelligentMD continues to advance forward in developing its innovative approach to the design and manufacturing of molecular diagnostic tests.
